The BELL team completed extensive rehabilitation of the 2,370 foot long steel truss pedestrian bridge. The historic 1891 span is actually an old railroad truss style bridge transformed into a pedestrian walkway and has been listed as one of America's 10 best public spaces. The BELL team was able to keep the bridge open to the public throughout the rehabilitation process.
Rehabilitation included selective replacement of sidewalk timber planks, steel frame and pinned connections repairs, pier stone masonry and mortar joint repairs, truss bearing repairs, foundation repairs and sealing the timber deck and sidewalks.
