Architect Gresham, Smith and Partners

Building Size 235,000 square feet

The building is located in downtown Nashville and named in honor of Justice Adolphus A. Birch, former Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice. A skywalk connects the Birch Building to the Criminal Justice Center BELL is currently completing to ensure the secure transfer of inmates.

The six-story structure houses more than a dozen courtrooms for Criminal Court and General Sessions Court proceedings, as well as judge’s chambers, jury selection facilities, prisoner holding cells, administrative offices and an underground parking garage.

Bell Construction has been a key player in the successful design and construction of the new Justice A.A. Birch Courthouse for Nashville. Their depth of experience and resources enabled this complex building to become a valuable asset to our community and source of civic pride.
