Senior Estimator

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for preparing complete, accurate estimates for all contract types to be reviewed by the Director of Preconstruction and Project Team. Follows up with subcontractors and vendors to ensure bids are received as required.

LOCATION:

Brentwood

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Prepares accurate estimates for material, labor, equipment, subcontracts, and construction facilities.

  • Fosters relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Attends on-site, pre-bid/proposal conferences and makes site visits.

  • Develops and reviews subcontractor scopes of work and bid packages and accepts, reviews, and analyzes subcontractor quotes for best value.

  • Ensures compliance with all specifications, contract requirements, and Bid Invitations.

  • Presents cost estimates for customer proposals, considering general and special conditions.

  • Prepares scope specifications and requirements, prepares and inputs project schedules, performs quantity take- offs, prepares cost summary sheets, and inputs quantities into estimating software.

  • Maintains an accurate, current database of cost codes and accounts for historical data.

  • Evaluates Company jobs against as-contracted estimates to confirm accuracy of estimate.

  • Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.

  • Communicates effectively with subcontractors and vendors during the estimating process.

  • Transmits addenda and other bid information to subcontractors.

  • Ensures the proper scope of work from subcontractors on bid day.

  • Develops RFI's and clarifications and ensures adequate subcontractor scope and bid submissions.

  • Performs a comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades.

  • Accurately assigns subcontractors to the size and scope of each bid project.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in building construction or related field

  • Minimum 5 years related Estimating experience


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

  • Advanced knowledge in Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), or equivalent software

  • Excellent Project Estimating skills, including execution of engineering calculations and ability to effectively communicate with Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Subcontractors, and Vendors using engineering nomenclature

  • Competent in reading, understanding, and organizing construction plans and specifications

  • Ability to work independently under pressure while exercising excellent judgement and meeting established deadlines
